I strive to provide each and every client with exceptional health care and an excellent Massage Therapy treatment. Therefore, you can rest assured that your health is in good hands!
On your first visit, I will give you a confidential health history form for you to complete. We will then review this information together so that I can gain a better understanding of your current complaints. An initial assessment may be performed so that a safe and effective treatment plan can be followed.
You will be given detailed instructions on how to prepare for the massage and the treatment plan will be explained to you before we begin. If you disagree with anything that is proposed, you may always refuse consent. Your questions are welcomed so please don't hesitate to ask at any time before, during or after your treatment.
You will have plenty of time undress to your comfort level and get comfortable on the massage table. I will knock before I come back into the room and the treatment will begin.
Remember, if at any time you feel uncomfortable with pressure or a technique I am using, you may ask me to stop or modify.
1. Do I have to get undressed?
This is completely up to you and your comfort level. Most clients remove all of their clothing except their undergarment, and some prefer to keep some items on. You will be covered with sheets throughout your massage and only the area being treated will be uncovered. Your privacy and comfort is top priority at all times.

2. Will the Massage hurt or cause pain?
It is common to feel some discomfort during a massage if you have tight muscles or problem areas. However, you may always ask your therapist to modify the pressure if you feel it is too much. Please do not be afraid to communicate at any time throughout your treatment.

3. How long will it take for me to feel better?
Some people feel relief after their first massage and for some it takes a little longer. Everyone is different when it comes to rehabilitation. However, if you commit to a home care plan in addition to your treatments, you should find that it speeds the process along. Home care (ie; stretches) if required, will be given to you by your therapist after your massage.

4. How do I know my therapist is qualified and registered?
All Registered Massage Therapists that are active will be listed on the College Of Massage Therapists of Ontario's website. You may visit www.cmto.com and click on "Search for a RMT". You can then search the first and last name of the RMT to verify their credentials.

5. What does a RMT's qualifications consist of?
Registered Massage Therapy is regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (www.cmto.com). Massage students must complete 2200 hours of intensive anatomical, physiological and clinical studies, including practical instruction, at a massage therapy college. Graduation is a prerequisite to taking the provincial examinations; successful candidates then become licensed and registered under the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA). All current registered massage therapists (R.M.T.) are members of this College, and only members of this college may call themselves Massage Therapists or Registered Massage Therapists.

6. Will OHIP cover my Massage Therapy appointment?
Unfortunately OHIP does not cover Massage Therapy. However, most extended health benefit plans do! So, if you have insurance through your employer, check to see what your Massage Therapy allowance is. Some insurance companies do require a medical note prior to paying out for Massage so do make sure you check these details before your appointment. You will need to pay for your massage up front, but you will be given an invoice that you can send to your insurance company for reimbursement.

7. How effective is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is highly effective, not only as a preventative therapy, but also as a drug-free treatment for a wide variety of diseases.
Studies indicate that acupuncture influences the central and peripheral nervous systems, immune and endocrine systems, improves circulation and metabolism in our body.

8. How can acupuncture help me?
Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide range of diseases, whether acute or chronic, mild or severe.

9. Does acupuncture hurt?
The needles should not cause pain when they are inserted, however there is a "needle sensation", which may be described as a tingling, or a feeling of numbness radiating from the needle. This sensation depends on the particular points chosen. If a patient is very sensitive to needles, the doctor may use reflexology, moxibustion, cupping without the use of needles.

10. How often should I go for an acupuncture treatment?
Each visit takes about 40 minutes. A patient takes one to five visits per week, depending on his or her condition.
Safety Assured in our Clinic:
we use only new disposable needles for every patient, with every visit.

11. What is moxibustion?
Moxibustion is an external method of preventing and treating diseases by ignition of moxa to stimulate the points.

12. What is cupping?
Cupping is a traditional treatment with a vacuum glass cup. The cup is attached to the skin surface to cause local congestion through the removal of the air in the cup. This method has the function of warming and promoting the free flow of energy and blood.
